Nathan is an American writer who has been living in Hong Kong since 2014. His work was awarded the Hong Kong’s Top Story 2017 Creative Prize by RTHK, Hong Kong Free Press, and PEN Hong Kong. He received his MFA in 2019 from Pacific University, where he was awarded the Pearl Scholarship. In addition to writing fiction, Nathan has worked as an ancillary health care specialist in clinical and hospital settings since 1998.

Emma Chen holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Sustainable Design and a Master of Arts in Creative Communications. Her interests encompass architecture, mathematics, physics, psychology, literature, music, and multilingualism, with a dedicated focus on exploring and researching these related interdisciplinary fields.
Emma's teaching experience spans advanced mathematics, music, multimedia design, and related subjects, reflecting her interdisciplinary methodology in teaching and research. Her current academic and creative pursuits are focused on Guqin research, music composition, short film production, traditional Chinese opera performance, and interdisciplinary works. Her music-themed animated short film has received several international awards and was screened at the Honolulu Museum of Art. It also received media attention at the 2024 Tokyo International Short Film Festival.
Dedicated to bridging diverse fields, Emma is committed to enhancing the understanding and practice of the interactions between various artistic and scientific domains.

Dr. Benjamin Horn received his PhD in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong in 2021. A recipient of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, his thesis offers a new model for the analysis of narrative games, using The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (CDPR 2015) as a case study. His research interests are interdisciplinary, reflecting the multimedia nature of games, and include questions relating to the interpretation of games, the history of games, close analytical readings of ludonarratives, and issues of cultural localization and translation. He has previously worked as chief writer for a Hong Kong independent game studio.

Felix Wong is a Chinese Canadian writer. He has lived half his life in Vancouver and half in Hong Kong. His stories, often exploring the themes of identity and Chinese traditions and values, can be found in North American literary journals like The Ex-Puritan, PRISM International, and Ricepaper Magazine.
His debut memoir, Shall We Talk, is slated to be published in Canada by ECW Press in Fall 2027. It is about his journey to Thailand and Hong Kong to learn about the death of his aunt in the 1991 Lauda Air plane crash and the silence, contractions, and stonewalling he must overcome in his search for the truth and for a place to belong.
Felix is a graduate of Simon Fraser University’s The Writer’s Studio and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Guelph. He specializes in creative nonfiction, particularly in the forms of memoir and personal essay. More details about him can be found at koolkatfelixwong.com

Tong King Lee is Professor and Head of the School of English, University of Hong Kong; Fellow and Vice-President of the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities; and Honorary Professor of Culture, Communication, and Media at University College London. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Laws with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies from the University of Queensland. Professor Lee was Luce East Asia Fellow at the National Humanities Center, U.S.A. (2021), Lee Kong Chian Research Fellow at National Library, Singapore (2022), and Durham Institute of Advanced Study Fellow, U.K. (2023). He holds the professional qualifications of NAATI Certified Translator (Australia) and Chartered Linguist (U.K.), and serves as a Specialist for the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). Among the several books he has published include Hypertranslation (Cambridge University Press, 2024), Kongish: Translanguaging and the Commodification of an Urban Dialect (Cambridge University Press, 2023), Choreographies of Multilingualism: Writing and Language Ideology in Singapore (Oxford University Press, 2022), and Translation as Experimentalism: Exploring Play in Poetics (Cambridge University Press, 2022). He takes professional and academic interest in intercultural and nonverbal communication for global business, translanguaging in digital media, and artificial intelligence for creative writing and translation. Professor Lee was conferred the University-level Outstanding Researcher Award at HKU in 2024.

Tara Lee researches 18th- and 19th-century British literature, ideas, and culture, with a particular focus on the intersections between literature, science, and technology during the Romantic period. Tara obtained her AHRC-funded DPhil in English Literature from the University of Oxford. Her first book, William Blake and Romantic Biology: Evolution, Originality, and Organic Form (contracted with Cambridge University Press), explores how Blake’s illuminated books and artworks engaged deeply with a range of intellectual discourses—political, theological, poetic, and aesthetic—that were shaped by debates about the self-organizing nature of living forms. While many Romantic-era writers and artists viewed vitality as an electric, plastic force of self-creation, Blake was influenced by a preformationist discourse that emphasized the stamina or kernel of identity in each being over material processes of change and development. This book argues that revisiting Blake’s works within the context of conflicting 18th- and early 19th-century understandings of organic form is essential to gaining a deeper appreciation of his radical perspectives on individuality, politics, and art.
Tara’s second monograph examines the role of technology in the Romantic epic. Noting Blake’s curious references to machines described as “living” and “self-moving,” Tara investigates how Romantic-era poets saw intimations of vitality in mechanical form. Funded by an HKRGC GRF grant, her project, Visionary Machines: Technology and the Epic in Britain, 1790–1830, explores how poets reimagined “epic machinery” for a modern age. By demonstrating how poets drew on epic conventions to enrich the symbolism of the machine, her work reveals how machines became such potent emblems of modernity because they allowed for evocative engagements with the past. As part of this project, Tara is also creating a database and related digital resources to facilitate the application of distant-reading techniques to 19th-century long narrative poetry.
Beyond these projects, Tara is interested in 19th-century depictions of Hong Kong, the poetics of space and place, lyric theory, and the environmental humanities. Her articles on Keats and birdsong, Southey and Indian mythology, and other Romantic-era topics have been published in journals such as European Romantic Review, Studies in Romanticism, Romanticism on the Net, and The Keats-Shelley Review.

Moonyoung Hong completed her BA degree in English Language and Literature at Hanyang University and obtained her MPhil in Irish Writing and PhD in English at Trinity College Dublin. Her PhD was funded by the TCD Ussher Fellowship and an Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship. She held an Early Career Research residency at Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. Prior to joining HKU, she taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), and Masaryk University, Brno.
Moonyoung specializes in modern drama, Irish literature, and postcolonial literature and theory. She is author of Tom Murphy's Theatre of Everyday Space (Routledge, 2025) and co-editor of The Irish Pub: Invention and Re-Invention (Cork University Press, 2025). Her articles have appeared in Irish Studies Review, Comparative Drama, Études Irlandaises, and Review of Irish Studies in Europe (RISE). Her research interests include everyday life studies, space and place, contemporary theatre and performance, and cross-cultural and global literatures.

Maria Chaudhuri, a writer and educator, began her literary journey at New York University, where she specialized in Screenwriting and Feature Writing, complemented by a certification in Corporate Storytelling and Communication. Her academic pursuits culminated in an MFA in Creative Writing with distinction from Goddard College, Vermont.
Chaudhuri’s writing explores the intricate intersections of language, class, gender, and globalism, challenging monolithic cultural narratives and fostering cross-cultural understanding. Her debut memoir, "Beloved Strangers" (Bloomsbury International, 2014), showcases her translingual and transcultural prowess, weaving together diverse cultural threads to create a tapestry of experiences that transcend both linguistic and cultural boundaries. Her literary contributions span across prestigious international publications such as Granta, Critical Muslim, Elle Magazine, The Dhaka Tribune, Bengal Lights, Upstart Crows, Golden: Bangladesh at 50, an anthology of short stories and poems, and the Hindustan Times.
Expanding her influence on younger generations, Chaudhuri launched "Nobo" (Ignite Publications, 2023) the first book in a children's series in Bangladesh, which underscores her dedication to using transcultural storytelling as a tool for social change and cultural understanding.
As a faculty member in the MFA-MACC programs at Hong Kong University, Chaudhuri continues to champion diversity in storytelling, encouraging her students to explore their unique cultural voices and linguistic heritages. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of multilingual expression and cross-cultural understanding in contemporary stories.

Professor Hanwool Choe received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., U.S.A. in 2020. Before her Ph.D., she gained her M.A. in Language & Communication at Georgetown University. She completed her B.A. in English Linguistics, with a minor in Education, at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea, with the highest distinction, in 2012.

Don Kulick is a linguistic anthropologist who has researched a wide variety of topics, from language death to obese pets. His interests center on people and other beings who are vulnerable – socially and politically, epistemologically and ontologically – and how that vulnerability is a productive force that prompts unexpected understandings and often-surprising reconfigurations of power. He has published extensively on topics such as language and sexuality, sex work, and disability. His recent books on the village of Gapun in the Sepik/Ramu region of Papua New Guinea – A Death in the Rainforest (2019), and A Grammar and Dictionary of Tayap (2019, co-authored with Angela Terrill) cap more than thirty years of research in the country. His current interests include how and why humans communicate with animals.
